Buddha four Noble truth teaching day

4th day of 6th Lunar month

This is to remember and celebrate the Buddha Shakyamuni’s first Buddhist teaching at Sarnath near Varanasi. Thousands of pilgrims and locals from Lhasa do a huge Kora of Pabongka temple and Sera monastery by climbing around the hill peak of Pabongka temple and Sera monastery and in the afternoon they have picnic with their families, relatives or friends together.

Ngamcho(death anniversary of Tsongkapa)

25th day of 10th Lunar month
This is to commemorate and condole rate the death of Tsongkapa, the founder of Gelukpa sect and Gaden monastery. People make huge numbers of butter lamb offering both in side the houses, monasteries, temples or on the roof top or windows of the houses, monasteries, or temples entire Tibet and at the same time they murmur the prayer to Jamchen Choje. In Lhasa, people gather in front of Jokang temple and walk around Jokang temple and make butter lamb and incense offering.

Zhimcho(death anniversary of Jamchen Choje)

24th day of 10th Lunar month
This is to commemorate and condole rate the death of Jamchen Choje, the founder of Sera monastery as well as one of the famous disciples of Tsongkapa. Palden Lhamo (Shiri Devi) festival

15th day of 10th Lunar month
This festival features a procession in Lhasa around the Bhakor, bearing Palden Lhamo, one of the state protective deity of the Tibetan Buddhism. The women in Lhasa regard it as the women’s festival day and they go to make offering to Palden Lhamo in Jokang temple in the finest dress and then they have party in the afternoon with singing, dancing etc.
